Dentsply Sirona CEREC Omnicam Scanner Financing

Finance a new or used Dentsply Sirona CEREC Omnicam intraoral scanner. Established CEREC workflow, powder-free scanning. Application-only up to $400k.

Dentsply Sirona CEREC Omnicam Scanner Financing

Thousands of CEREC practices built their digital workflows around the Omnicam, and many of those practices are still running it productively today. The Omnicam introduced powder-free scanning to the CEREC line, replaced the earlier AC camera that required opacifying spray, and gave clinicians a color-accurate scan environment that made margin identification and shade documentation faster than any prior CEREC generation. For practices that have the Omnicam running well and are not yet ready to upgrade, financing the existing unit or acquiring a pre-owned Omnicam is still a sound investment.

For practices buying a pre-owned Omnicam to enter the CEREC workflow at a lower entry price, we finance certified refurbished and dealer-certified used units when the condition documentation meets our requirements. The cost difference between a pre-owned Omnicam and a new Primescan can be substantial, and that gap is a real consideration for a practice that is value-engineering its first digital impression investment.

New vs. Used Omnicam: The Purchase Decision

Dentsply Sirona officially replaced the Omnicam with the Primescan, which means new Omnicam units are no longer manufactured. What you are buying today is dealer stock, dealer-certified pre-owned, or refurbished. The implication for financing is that we evaluate used Omnicam condition, software version eligibility, and expected useful life as part of the underwriting assessment.

A certified pre-owned Omnicam in good condition with an active CEREC software license can deliver full restorative workflow at a fraction of the Primescan price point. Practices that do a moderate volume of crown and bridge cases, rather than 15-plus per week, may find the Omnicam provides sufficient scan performance for their clinical needs without the capital outlay of the newer unit.

If you are comparing the two generations directly before deciding, our Primescan financing page covers what the upgrade provides in clinical terms. Our used equipment financing page explains the condition and documentation requirements for financing pre-owned dental technology. The Dentsply Sirona brand financing overview covers all models we finance across their full product line.

Omnicam Technology and Clinical Performance

The CEREC Omnicam uses a wide-angle lens camera with continuous color 3D capture. Unlike the earlier AC camera that required aluminum trioxide powder to make the tooth surface reflective enough for the optical sensor, the Omnicam handles unpowdered enamel and dentin directly. The color acquisition is clinically useful for gingival margin visualization and shade matching, not just scan geometry.

Full-arch scan times on the Omnicam run longer than the Primescan, typically two to four minutes depending on the clinician's scanning speed and patient cooperation. For quadrant-level restorative cases (single crown or small bridge), the Omnicam is fast enough for a chairside-efficient workflow. The limitation shows up more in full-arch implant-level accuracy requirements, where the Primescan's denser acquisition provides measurably better fit outcomes.

CEREC software compatibility is the other factor. Omnicam units running current CEREC software versions can access the AI-assisted design tools and CEREC Connect lab network. Confirming which software version a used unit is licensed for is critical before purchase. Dealer-certified units should come with software version documentation and any outstanding license eligibility confirmation from Dentsply Sirona.

Practices that want to pair any CEREC scanner with a milling unit for same-day restorations should review our CEREC CAD/CAM financing overview. If you are also evaluating the milling side of the workflow, the CEREC MC XL milling unit financing page covers that unit in detail.

Who is Buying the Omnicam Today

Three buyer types make up the majority of Omnicam financing requests. First, practices that already own CEREC milling equipment and need a replacement scanner without immediately stepping up to the Primescan price point. Second, practices entering the CEREC workflow for the first time and choosing the used Omnicam as a cost-controlled entry point. Third, associate-owned satellite offices within larger practices that want to run CEREC workflows in a secondary location at reduced capital cost.

General dentistry practices with a consistent restorative caseload and a working relationship with a CEREC-compatible lab are the natural fit. General dentistry practices that do three to eight crown and bridge cases per week will find the Omnicam's scan performance sufficient for that volume. The investment calculus is simpler for an Omnicam deal: the unit is less expensive, the ROI horizon is shorter, and the transition from physical impressions to digital is still complete.

Cosmetic practices that value the color-accurate scan for shade documentation also use the Omnicam effectively. Cosmetic dentistry practices doing veneer prep and ceramic restoration work appreciate the color capture for matching complex shade prescriptions.

Getting a Used Omnicam Financed

Used equipment financing moves on the same timeline as new equipment deals, roughly one to two weeks from complete application to funding. The difference is in the documentation. For a used Omnicam we need the dealer invoice or purchase agreement, a description of the unit's condition, software version documentation, and ideally a dealer inspection report or refurbishment certification. Units sold without any condition documentation require more upfront diligence before we can approve.

Once documentation is in hand, the application process is the same: credit application, three months of bank statements, and the equipment paperwork. The application-only financing overview explains the full process step by step. Funding goes to the dealer upon document execution.

Questions

Can I finance a used Omnicam from a private seller rather than a dealer?

Private seller transactions are more complex to finance and are generally not eligible for our standard program. We require a formal dealer invoice from an authorized or refurbishment-certified dealer to confirm condition and software status. If the seller is a dealer willing to provide formal documentation, the deal may be possible.

Is the Omnicam's CEREC software still receiving updates?

Dentsply Sirona has focused development on the Primescan ecosystem, but CEREC software updates have historically been backwards-compatible with Omnicam hardware. You should confirm current software compatibility with your dealer before purchase, as the software landscape can change with major version releases.

Can I eventually upgrade from an Omnicam to a Primescan and trade in the existing unit?

Trade-in programs are offered by authorized Dentsply Sirona dealers, though the trade-in value of a used Omnicam varies. On the financing side, if you have an existing Omnicam loan, we would need to address the remaining balance at time of upgrade, either by paying it off or by rolling it into the new deal if there is sufficient equity.

My practice has B credit. Can I still finance a used Omnicam?

B and C credit profiles are considered. The structure on a B-credit deal may include a slightly higher rate or a shorter maximum term, but the program is available. We look at bank statement cash flow alongside credit score, so strong cash flow can partially offset a lower credit score.

Can I bundle the Omnicam with an existing milling unit repair or refurbishment into one financed package?

Equipment repair costs are generally not financed separately, but if you are purchasing a refurbished scanner and a refurbished milling unit together from the same dealer at the same time, they can typically be bundled on a single invoice and financed together.
